Crop Diseases

Crop losses due to disease can be extremely costly. Reducing such losses is an essential component of increasing food security.  

We combine Extension and Research to:

• understand the predominant pathogens of current cropping systems.

• observe how these pathogen populations shift over time due to climate and agronomic practices.

• identify sustainable management practices that can accommodate these shifts.

We utilize greenhouse, small plot trial sites and farmer fields to carry out research, which entails a combination of molecular and field-based approaches.
