Field Crop Pathology
The Bish Lab focuses on sustainable management of crop diseases.
Crop losses due to disease can be extremely costly. Reducing such losses is an essential component of increasing food security.
We combine Extension and Research to:
understand the predominant pathogens of current cropping systems.
observe how these pathogen populations shift over time due to climate and agronomic practices.
identify sustainable management practices that can accommodate these shifts.
We utilize greenhouse, small plot trial sites and farmer fields to carry out research, which entails a combination of molecular and field-based approaches.
